“We all climb the same mountain, just on different sides.”

Arjen van Garderen

Career Highlights:

I have been an RN for the last twenty years and have worked in

various hospitals in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana during that time. I have worked in multiple departments such as on the cardiac floor, helping deliver babies, in the E.R. and in employee health. When I worked nights, I would often rock babies to sleep on the pediatric floor. Recently, I started to volunteer for parish nursing which helps serve the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in health care within faith communities.

Special Skills:

I went to culinary school in Amsterdam before moving to the United States. I have worked in several kitchens in Bozeman restaurants over the years. I have also competed in triathlons and other races in Washington and Montana.

Things I am passionate about:

I love our cat, who we call Squeaks, taking care of flowers and plants in our yard and home, and playing with my grandkids.

In my free time, I love to:

Sleep in and go on hikes with my wife!

When I was little, I loved to:

Eat sweets, ride bikes with my dad and brother, and go camping.

Personal philosophy:

Be of help to other people, especially those who are struggling. Life is a lot more fun when you can find things to laugh about, so I try not to take myself too seriously.

“We can’t say enough good things about Bozeman Montessori. There’s a passion for education here – and a general expression of kindness – that really puts you at ease as a parent. It can be hard to leave children [during the day], and see them grow up, but the staff and director at Bozeman Montessori put so much effort into the Montessori Method, and the specific needs of each student, that I feel like our boys (ages 19 months and 3) are in the best hands possible. We consider ourselves lucky to have found this school, the wonderful staff, and the supportive parent community.”
